Description

Platycodon grandiflorus 'Mariesii' is a beautiful perennial, with large bell-shaped flowers, intense blue in colour, similar to campanulas.

Originally from Japan, this Japanese bellflower has thick and fleshy roots, almost tuberous, forming robust and bushy clumps.

In early summer, Platycodon 'Mariesii' bears large, intense blue bell-shaped flowers on short stems, 50-60cm (20-24in) in height.

Hardy and easy to grow, Platycodon thrives in sunny or partially shaded areas, well-drained, rich and light soils. Plant it at the edge of a flower bed or in the background, alongside roses, poppies, phlox or Gypsophila.
