Description

Pulsatilla vulgaris Papageno, formerly known as pasqueflower, is a mixed variety with semi-double flowers in pink, white, dark violet, and wine-red.

This amazing variety has large open cup-shaped, semi-double flowers with highly fringed petals that bloom in early spring. Since the seedlings are not fixed in colour, the plants can have flowers ranging from pure white to dark violet, as well as pink and red. At the end of the flowering period, the flowers produce beautiful fluffy, silvery-white seeds.

The deciduous foliage is highly divided and is light grey and very fuzzy in spring, turning bright green in the middle of the season.

The hardy Papageno pasqueflower grows on sunny slopes, in the mountains of course, but also in lowlands, such as on limestone hillsides. Plant it on the edge of a rockery or on a terrace in a pot, alongside botanical tulips.
