Feet received and planted in autumn in south-facing containers. They disappeared during the winter, but at the beginning of spring, their recovery is confirmed by the emergence of new stems and leaves. I am delighted, and now we wait for the flowering!

Description

The Sanguisorba menzeisii is a perennial with rhizomes that has the particularity of having an original flowering. From June to July, terminal spikes, in a bottle brush shape, are composed of small purple flowers. These spikes are formed on leafy and knotted stems.

This perennial has a beautiful and decorative foliage. The grey-green leaves, 25 to 40 cm (10 to 16in) long, are divided into toothed and elliptical leaflets. It is a deciduous foliage. At maturity, the Sanguisorba reaches a height of 70 cm (28in). Originally from Alaska, it is a very hardy plant that can withstand temperatures as low as -20°C (-4°F).

The Alaskan Burnet, as it is also known, blooms in sunny and moist soils. It can be planted in herbaceous borders or along the water's edge. It is common in wet meadows. You can associate it with perennial beds to highlight the spikes. It also presents well in bouquets.
