I had ordered 3, and they haven't all started. All the other sedum varieties in the same order are doing well!

Description

Sedum cauticola 'Lidakense' bears beautiful raspberry pink flower clusters on blue foliage bordered in red in late summer.

Sedum 'Lidakense' is an excellent rock garden plant. It forms dense cushions, reaching 10cm (4in) in height. This compact plant spreads through underground suckers and colonises the soil, reaching 30 to 40cm (12 to 16in) in width.

It produces beautiful evergreen, succulent, grey-blue leaves, with a red border towards the end of the season. In late summer, the plant is covered in abundant raspberry pink flowers, attracting a large number of pollinators.

Sedum 'Lidakense' prefers sunny, well-drained and poor soils. It is very hardy and can withstand temperatures of -15°C (59°F) without any problems, as long as it does not endure waterlogged soil in winter. If in doubt, a simple and effective technique is to place a translucent cover over the stump during wet winters, so that the plant remains above water until March.

It looks stunning in a rock garden and also grows very well in a pot.

Planting and care

Sedum 'Lidakense' thrives in full sun. It even withstands scorching sun. It tolerates drought. Plant it in ordinary, low-nutrient, even poor soil, that is rather dry and especially well-drained. It is a low-maintenance plant. For planting, prepare a hole 30cm (12in) wide and deep and space it 30cm (12in) away from other plants. Do not water too much. At the end of winter, cut back any withered or frost-damaged stems. Sedum 'Lidakense' does not tolerate winter moisture or heavy soils.
