Description

Originally from the mountains of Europe, Tollius europaeus is a robust perennial, highly resistant to cold.

It forms clumps of apple-green leaves, finely divided into 5 lobes. It blooms from the month of May and carries on its stems 60cm (24in) tall large golden yellow ball-shaped flowers measuring 3 to 5 cm (1 to 2in) in diameter, similar to giant buttercups.

Easy to grow, the common globflower thrives in sunny and partially shaded locations, it grows in light and damp to moist soils. Cultivate it on the edges of a pond or in a damp bed with wild-looking perennials: ferns, Solomon's Seal, Polygonum bistorta 'Superbum' adorned with a multitude of bluebell bulbs.
