Adventive plant, I use it as a ground cover against weeds. Resistant to drought. Beautiful all year round. The young plant multiplies very well.

Description

Perennial groundcover forming mats of blue flowers in spring, Veronica umbrosa 'Georgia Blue' has many qualities to be prominently featured in the garden.

Originally from Asia Minor, this veronica tolerates heat and summer drought. Its foliage is carried by slender reddish stems that are strongly creeping and spreading. It is dark green, shiny, and takes on beautiful coppery colours in autumn due to the cold and persists throughout winter. In spring, a cloud of gentian blue flowers punctuated by a small white spot, bloom and last from March to May.

Even though it tolerates partial shade very well, the plant will produce the most flowers in full sun. Its loose habit allows it to trail on the ground, planted near a shrub it will climb, and when planted on the edge of a wall, it will cascade and gracefully adorn it.

Easy to grow, Veronica umbrosa 'Georgia Blue' requires light and well-draining soil. It is a marvel for rock gardens, sunny slopes, or paving.
