Description

The Rose Bush Decorosier Baia® brings its exotic charm to the large family of Decorosiers, with its small, delicate flowers in shades of a Caribbean sunset. This landscape rose is a small bush with exceptional qualities: a long-lasting flowering period, great disease resistance, and minimal maintenance. It brightens gardens with its semi-double flowers in various shades, ranging from orange and peach to pink around a dark red heart. With its well-covering vegetation, it ensures an exceptional decoration almost all year round. Plant it in a flowerbed, a large border, or in a pot on the terrace.

The Baia® Rose, exclusively distributed by Verdia®, belongs to the Decorosiers® range, known for its resistant and floriferous varieties. It is a bushy rose bush with a spreading habit, reaching between 60 and 80 cm in height. Its semi-double flowers, with a diameter of 4 to 5 cm, appear in May and continue blooming continuously until October. They offer a unique spectacle, with petals ranging from honey yellow and peach to pink surrounding a dark red heart adorned with orange stamens. The dark green foliage is glossy, healthy, and almost evergreen in mild climates. This rose is particularly disease-resistant, requiring no phytosanitary treatments or complex maintenance. Its hardiness allows it to withstand temperatures down to -25°C. Its foliage consists of small, shiny, dentate leaves covering thorny stems. This fuss-free variety adapts to any well-prepared soil.

The Decorosier® Baia® rose allows for creating beautifully coloured flowerbeds or blooming a balcony. Its spreading habit can be used to cover slopes or create low, dense borders. It can be paired with lavandins, blue hardy geraniums or white ones, or even with Nepeta 'Cat's Pajamas' which complements the warm hues of its flowers. Among roses from the same range, it pairs particularly well with Opalia® with white flowers, Mareva® with soft pink tones, and Emera®, whose fuchsia flowers enhance the overall display.

Planting and care

The Decorosier 'Baia' roses prefer a sunny location (at least 4 to 5 hours of sun per day) but sheltered from strong winds. They adapt to most soils. All roses appreciate loose, permeable, and humus-rich soils. They prefer a slightly acidic soil, but will adapt in any garden as long as the soil is well worked and sufficiently rich. To plant your rose, work the soil in a 30 cm cube by crumbling the earth well and placing a base amendment like dried blood or dehydrated horn at the bottom of the planting hole, position your plant freed from its pot by covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm of soil, fill in and water generously to remove air pockets. In dry weather, it is necessary to water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate rooting. Also, remember to provide your rose with special rose fertiliser that stimulates plant flowering.

Pruning: it is not essential, but you can intervene at the end of winter to clean up the old wood and shorten some branches to 2/3 of their growth.
