Thanks to the team (for order preparation and shipping), the bare-root rose I received looks healthy. Planted in the ground, close to the "Bordure Blanche" variety, I am now patiently waiting for it to take root... or not?

More information

A superb rose bush, derived from 'Annapurna', which has inherited its beautiful foliage and enchanting fragrance. Its large double flowers, with a pearly white colour, have a gently warmed turbinated heart of pale apricot. This variety, both perpetual and highly resistant to diseases, is undoubtedly deserving of a place in every garden. Its roses withstand rain well and are very long-lasting in a vase.

Description

The Catherine Frot® Rose is a worthy descendant of the magnificent 'Annapurna', just as divinely scented as its parent. It is a vigorous plant, with large roses that, although classic, have a less sophisticated shape than those of Annapurna and a pretty turbinate heart delicately enhanced with pale salmon. They smell of violets and are beautifully highlighted by dark green foliage. Its fragrant flowers, bushy habit, disease resistance, and tireless flowering make it a highly desirable variety, truly essential in the garden and for bouquets.

The Catherine Frot® ('DORanisa') is a wonderful French creation from the Dorieux house, based near Roanne. This modern rose is related to the Tea hybrids. The plant forms a vigorous and upright bush, with fast growth. It will reach an average height of 85cm (34in) at maturity, with a spread of 70cm (28in). From May-June until late in the season, elongated and well-turbinate buds appear tirelessly on healthy, dark green foliage, opening into fully bloomed roses measuring 9-10cm (4in) in diameter, with an imperfect shape at full bloom that somewhat resembles English roses. They are composed of 60 thick and waxy-textured petals and are carried in small bouquets on long, sturdy stems. These flowers withstand rain well and last a long time in a vase. Their highly pronounced and distinctive fragrance is remarkable. A hardy variety that also thrives in warm regions.

This modern Catherine Frot rose, with its divine fragrance, the romance of its large pastel flowers, and its beautiful floribundance, will find its place in the garden in a large rose bed or grouped in 3 in the centre of a flower bed. It adapts to all soils that are not too dry and all climates, tolerating both rain and heat, making it welcome without reservation from the north to the south of our country, even at medium altitudes. It pairs perfectly with pale pink roses ('Prince Jardinier', 'Princesse Charlène de Monaco', 'William Morris'), red roses ('Papa Meilland', 'Young Lycidas', 'Deuil de Paul Fontaine'), and pretty, easy-to-grow plants like perennial geraniums (Geranium 'Blue Cloud', 'Anne Folkard', 'Nimbus', 'Orion'), bellflowers (lactiflora, rapunculoides), catmints, snapdragons, foxgloves, etc. Its flowers can be used to create sumptuous bouquets that delicately perfume the house.

Planting and care

To plant your Catherine Frot rose, work the soil to a depth of 35cm (14in), crumbling the earth well and adding a base amendment such as dried blood or dehydrated horn at the bottom of the planting hole. Position your young plant by covering the top of the root ball with 3cm (1in) of soil, fill in and water generously to eliminate air pockets. In dry weather, it is necessary to water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate root growth. Also, remember to provide your rose with special rose fertilizer that stimulates flowering in plants.
