Thanks to the individuals (for order preparation and shipping), the received rose bush appears healthy. Planted near a Royal Apricot Prunus, I am now patiently awaiting its growth...or not?

Description

The 'Bluebell' rose bush is a small bush rose that stands out for the colour of its flowers, a vivid purplish pink that evolves with hints of violet almost bluish depending on the light. Barely double, of modest size, with a light spicy fragrance, they offer bees a beautiful heart of golden stamens at full bloom. Grouped in bouquets, these little roses are well highlighted by a foliage of beautiful grassy green, very resistant to diseases. Small in size, very floriferous, brightly coloured, it stands out in low beds and large borders.

The Rosa x floribunda 'Bluebell' is a beautiful creation by the Meilland rose breeder dating back to 2016. 'Floribunda' roses are bouquet cultivars, obtained by hybridising polyantha roses and tea roses. 'Bluebell' forms a small bush measuring about 50-60 cm (20-24in) in all directions, very ramified, vigorous, well-balanced, dressed in very healthy, semi-matte, bright green foliage. Its flowering is remarkably long between May-June and October: for 5 to 6 months, it is in bloom. Its roses measure about 7 cm (3in) in diameter, they are gathered in terminal bouquets of 3 to 15 flowers. Each has about twenty petals. Initially turbinate in shape, they open widely in a corolla around a heart of yellow stamens. Their fragrance is light but pleasant, gently spicy and peppery. It is perceptible from very close. The colour of the flowers is deep, slightly velvety, a rich mauve pink with almost bluish violet highlights, especially in cool weather, it contrasts pleasantly with the golden stamens. The foliage, which is deciduous, is absent in winter.

Floribunda roses allow for beautiful small hedges, planted in a mix along the edge of the terrace or in beds of small-sized bushes. Associate them with abelias and caryopteris for example. They are good companions for perennial geraniums and nepetas. To accompany the vibrant flowering of 'Bluebell', think of cream tones ('Jardin des Tuileries' rose), pastel pink ('Astronomia' rose) or soft yellow ('Celina' rose). The small size of 'Bluebell' makes it an interesting variety for cultivation in large pots.

Planting and care

To plant your rose in a pot, work the soil to a depth of 25 cm (10in) by crumbling the soil and adding a base amendment such as dried blood or dehydrated horn at the bottom of the planting hole. Position your plant, removed from its pot, by covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil, fill in and water thoroughly to remove any air pockets. During dry weather, it is necessary to water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate root growth. Also, remember to provide your rose with special rose fertiliser that stimulates flowering.
