Our privacy hedge bushes to create a dense, year-round screening plant. These evergreen bushes and conifers that keep their leaves all winter allow you to shield your garden from prying eyes.
The well-known cherry laurel (Prunus laurocerasus) grows quickly, tolerates light shade and ordinary soil; it can form a hedge 2 to 4 m tall. The Photinia fraseri ‘Red Robin’ stands out with its young red foliage in spring; it reaches 2 to 3 m in height. The robust Elaeagnus ebbingei (oleaster), which tolerates sea spray, forms a screen 2 to 3 m tall in well-drained, even poor and dry soils. The Leyland cypress (× Cupressocyparis leylandii) quickly forms a screen 3 to 5 m tall in full sun; best reserved for large spaces, it requires regular pruning. The non-running bamboo Fargesia robusta, with its fine, evergreen foliage, grows 2 to 3 m tall. It is suited to partial shade and moist soils.

Plant your hedge bushes preferably in autumn (September-November) or outside frost periods; container-grown young plants can also be planted in spring, but they require consistent watering. Depending on the variety, space the young plants 80 cm to 1.50 m apart. Water regularly for the first two summers and prune 1 to 2 times a year.
Regulatory reminder (Civil Code, subject to Local Urban Plan): a hedge over 2 m in height must be planted at least 2 m from the boundary line; for a hedge 2 m or less in height, the minimum distance is 0.5 m. A party hedge is planted on the property boundary with the neighbour's agreement and is maintained at shared cost; respect locally set heights and prune to avoid encroaching on the neighbour's side.
