Description

The Fothergilla intermedia Blue Shadow is a remarkable new variety known for its ovate leaves with a spectacular steel blue colour!

Native to North America, Fothergilla is a tough bush. It has an upright habit and slow growth. It stays small, rarely exceeding 1.50m (5ft) in height and 1.20m (4 ft) in width. In spring, it produces cream-white flowering spikes that are pleasantly fragrant.

The main attraction of the Blue Shadow Fothergilla is its foliage. With its ovate shape, its deciduous leaves unfurl at the end of the flowering period and have a powdery electric blue colour with shades of grey. In autumn, the leaves turn red-orange before falling.

Easy to grow, it thrives in both sun and shade, tolerating everything except chalky soil and drought. Plant it in a container or in the ground, alongside Sweet Box, Skimmia, Lily of the Valley  or Pearl Bush.
