Weigela florida Magical Rainbow

Weigela florida Magical Rainbow ('Kolmagira') is a bush with a compact habit, variegated deciduous foliage in green and gold, and abundant trumpet-shaped pink flowers that bloom from May to June.

Originating from China and Korea, Weigela florida is a has a ramified habit, reaching a height of 1.5 m (4.9 ft) and a width of 1 m (3.3 ft). Its beautiful flowers bloom from May to June, forming pink trumpets. Its variegated deciduous foliage is green with hints of gold and turns pink in summer. The leaves are wide and slightly toothed.

Hardy up to -15° C (5° F), Weigela florida Magical Rainbow ('Kolmagira') thrives in sunny or semi-shaded positions. Plant it in moist soil with a slightly alkaline pH throughout the year (except during frost periods). In July, prune back the old branches and those branches that have produced a lot, in order to promote a beautiful flowering the following year.

It can be used in pots to attract attention in small gardens, or in borders in larger gardens. It is highly valued for its dual interest: in spring with its beautiful fragrant flowering and in autumn with the colour of its purple foliage. It tolerates urban pollution very well.
