This plant struggled a bit to establish, but I'm looking forward to spring to see its progress.

Description

Weigela florida 'Marjorie' is a remarkable shrub for its cascading flowering of bell-shaped flowers in shades ranging from deep to light pink. It will add a gentle floral note during the late spring.

Weigela florida is native to East Asia where it is found naturally. Its cultivar 'Marjorie' is an upright and compact shrub measuring 2 m (7 ft) in height and 1.5 m (5 ft) in width. Its green leaves, with a lanceolate shape and undulating margins, have lighter veins. In autumn, its foliage will take on shades of ochre and purple before falling. During the months of June and July, the shrub will develop beautiful bell-shaped flowers in multiple shades of pink, each unique to the flower. It will surely make an impression on your friends.

Highly resistant (-20 °C (-4 °F)), it can be grown in flower beds, as a flowering hedge, or as a standalone plant. It pairs well with grasses, salvias, or even abelias. Easy to grow, it prefers well-drained and poor or rich soils. It will thrive in sunny or semi-shaded positions.
