Always satisfied: I received my package of spring bulbs, I am very pleased, the bulbs are very large and beautiful. I had also ordered a neckmate, it arrived in perfect condition, very green and beautiful.

Description

With this collection, you can give your garden the natural charm of this small narcissus with its sweet fragrance. From April to May, they will brighten borders, flower beds, rockeries, and planters with a myriad of white flowers with yellow or orange hearts. They are so simple and endearing and spread easily if the conditions suit them.

The collection of scented narcissus consists of the following:

- 10x Narcissus tazetta 'Avalanche' is an old variety that is vigorous and resistant to viruses. It is highly prized for the musky fragrance of its small white and light yellow bicoloured flowers, gathered in bouquets on a tall stem. In mild climates, it blooms from the end of March, a little later in cooler climates. It is 45 cm tall.

- 10x Narcissus 'Flower Record': an excellent, prolific, and reliable narcissus dating back to the 1940s. Its large flowers, white with a bright yellow flared crown bordered with orange, are slightly fragrant. A plant that spreads easily. Blooms in April-May, depending on the climate. Height 45 cm.

- 10x Narcissus poeticus Actaea: a botanical species called Poet's Narcissus, highly fragrant. The simple and elegant flowers are white, with a small yellow crown edged in red—blooms from April to May, height 50 cm.

Plant this collection of narcissus in any well-drained, loosened, humus-rich soil; however, the results are less favourable in soils that are too wet or excessively acidic in summer. They will be home in natural-looking flower beds or borders, combined with scillas and hyacinths, mid-height botanical tulips, and forget-me-nots or pansies. Plant them under trees where no one will disturb them: they will spread, forming large luminous carpets in the long run! For a romantic effect, plant them at the base of old roses. In large pots, these narcissi are wonderful... place them near windows or the entrance door to fully enjoy their delightful fragrance.

These narcissi are also perfect for creating charming bouquets. Be careful, though. Narcissus stems contain a substance that quickly wilts other flowers. You can mitigate this harmful effect by dipping the ends of the narcissus stems in hot water for 1 to 2 minutes. Furthermore, if your tulips open too quickly, you can add two to three ice cubes to the vase every day. Use very little water—just a bottom is enough!

Planting and care

The daffodils in this collection are not very demanding and will grow in any well-drained, loosely-tilled, somewhat chalky soil, with less success in soils that are too wet in summer or excessively acidic. The further south you go, the less fussy they will be about soil type. Plant the bulbs from September to mid-December, 12 cm deep and 8 cm apart, in a sunny or semi-shady spot (at least 3 hours of sunshine daily). Leave them undisturbed; each year, your daffodils will produce more and more flowers. It's not essential to water in summer - quite the opposite as the bulbs need to be heated in the summer. Daffodils stay in the ground. Remove wilted flowers to encourage new reserves to build up in the bulb. After flowering, leave the foliage to die naturally and cut it back only when it turns yellow. If the clumps become too dense, they will flower less well, so you can divide them between July and September when the leaves have dried out. The undamaged bulbs can be replanted immediately.
