Description

The Misty Glen Daffodil has a large crown. It is one of the most beautiful daffodils. In April, each stem has a large solitary, pure white flower with a green centre in a white crown. These flowers emit a pleasant fragrance. Its deciduous foliage is blue-green.

At maturity, the Misty Glen daffodil can reach 45 cm (18in) high. Its flowers can be cut and will make very pretty bouquets. You can grow it in flowerbeds or containers. The large-crowned daffodil naturalises very well among larger daffodils. Plant it in groups for a more impressive display. It pairs well with other spring bulbs as well as perennials, annuals, and flowering bushes. Daffodils are loved because they are a symbol of spring

They are easy to grow and will thrive in woodland shade or a sunny flower bed. They can also be grown in containers. You can cut the flowers to put them in a vase where they last well. Daffodils are toxic and do not like bad weather such as rain, which damages the flower. However, they are among the most resistant autumn bulbs, a faithful plant that returns every year. Narcissus features in a Greek legend in which a handsome young man rejected the love of the nymph Echo. As punishment, the gods made him love nothing more than his own reflection. When he perched above a fountain to drink, Narcissus saw his reflection and remained in contemplation of himself until he fell in and drowned. He then transformed into a flower.

Planting and care

Narcissus Misty Glen is easy to grow and thrives in sunlight and partial shade. Plant the bulbs in autumn in light, fairly fertile, and well-drained soil, moist during the growing season. Ensure a planting depth of at least one and a half times their height, a little deeper in light soil or a lawn. After flowering, allow the leaves to dry out, as the bulbs will enter a dormant period until the following winter. Remove faded flowers to prevent the formation of seeds that would unnecessarily deplete the bulb.
