Our range of botanical and collection Pelargoniums brings together species and forms close to wild types, as well as uncommon varieties. Pelargonium geraniums, often confused with hardy geraniums, belong to the Geraniaceae family and are characterised by often glandulous and aromatic foliage. These plants, mainly native to Southern Africa, show great morphological variability, from undershrub forms to species with succulent stems.
Among the best known are Pelargonium graveolens, a small shrub with deeply cut, very fragrant foliage, and Pelargonium quercifolium, recognisable by its lobed oak-like leaves and its resinous fragrance. Pelargonium cucullatum offers a spreading habit, velvety leaves and mauve-pink flowers. Pelargonium Madame Salleron is a zonal geranium with striking cream-white variegated foliage. They are appreciated for their flowering as well as the texture, cut or fragrance of their foliage, depending on the variety.
These botanical pelargoniums are generally grown in pots, as they are not very hardy. They enjoy full sun, a very well-drained and rather dry substrate, especially in winter: plant them in a light mix, water without excess during the growing period, then significantly reduce water supply and protect them from frost in a conservatory or a bright, cool room over winter. Their cultivation requires careful control of winter humidity.
