Thanks to the individuals (Shauna for order preparation and ? from the shipping department), the received clematis is young and healthy. Planted near the 'Pullman Orient Express' rose, I am now waiting for it to establish itself...

Description

Clematis Tranquilité ('Evipo0111') is a delightful variety from the Boulevard® series, which brings together selected clematis for their compact growth and exceptional floribundity. It is covered with semi-double to single lavender-blue flowers with red stamens, which succeed each other between June and October on sturdy vegetation. It will brighten up slightly shaded areas of the garden, or can entwine with a non-flowering small bush. Its modest size is particularly suitable for growing in large pots on a patio or balcony.

Clematis belong to the Ranunculaceae family. They are found in both hemispheres, particularly in Europe, the Himalayas, China, Australia, and North and Central America. Tranquilité was selected by the famous breeder Raymond Evison. This variety is a Group 2 clematis that flowers in successive waves on the previous year's wood in June-July (sometimes as early as the end of May), and then again on new shoots until the end of summer or the beginning of autumn. It is a perfectly perennial, semi-woody and climbing plant that will not exceed 1.5m (5ft) in height. The medium-sized flowers are semi-double at the beginning of the season, then single. They are either solitary or gathered in small bouquets. The centre is occupied by deep purple stamens. They are pale-mauve to mauve-pink, with a creamy-white central zone. The medium green deciduous leaves are either composed of 3 ovate to lanceolate leaflets, measuring 10 to 15cm (4 to 6in) long, or are simple and ovate, measuring 7 to 10cm (3 to 4in) long. The foliage falls in autumn and reappears in spring.

Clematis Tranquilité is an excellent plant for semi-shaded to sunny exposures. It blooms abundantly, and is suitable for both small gardens and container cultivation. Plant your clematis alongside climbing roses to extend the flowering period of walls and pergolas until the end of summer. This is a diverse genus, with clematis available in all colours, shapes, and sizes. Enjoy their charms to give your garden a romantic and bohemian touch.

Planting and care

Choose a sunny or semi-shaded exposure. Clematis plants like to have their feet cool. In a sunny exposure, shade the base of your clematis with a ground cover plant or a perennial geranium. Work the soil to a depth of 20cm (8in), lightened with good quality compost. Plant it by covering the root ball with 3cm (1in) of soil. Water regularly and generously during the first few weeks. Do not overwater, as stagnant water can lead to the development of fungus at the base of the plant.

Clematis plants attach themselves using their tendrils. To promote their growth, provide them with a trellis or let them dress the trunk of a tree by placing a wire mesh against the trunk for the clematis to climb. Clematis plants also enjoy growing freely on neighbouring plants.
