Fast delivery and flawless packaging... I planted the vine-plants as soon as I received them... I am looking forward to their growth as they are still very young... I hope for a beautiful outcome.

Description

Hakonechloa macra Albostriata, or Japanese forest grass, has lovely spreading tufts of linear variegated green and white leaves. It is evergreen, keeping its decorative foliage almost all year round.

This grass, with its bamboo-like appearance, slowly spreads and after a few years of cultivation, forms beautiful hemispherical cushions that reach a height of 30cm (12in). It thrives in shaded areas with damp, humus-rich soil. It is perfect for an exotic-looking garden, a damp rockery, or simply a pot.

This trendy grass is stunning in flower beds and can easily be grown in pots.  It will find a special place in a semi-shaded corner of a terrace, alongside hostas, ferns, or heucheras.

Hakonechloa macra 'Albostriata' can tolerate all positions in the garden as long as the soil remains damp, although it will have the best success in the shaded parts of the garden.

Planting and care

Hakonechloa macra Albostriata enjoys a moist to wet, but well-drained soil. It is tolerant to exposure, and can handle shade and accept sun in fresh stony soil. Adding fertilizer in spring stimulates the growth of new foliage. Prune your plant at the end of February before the emergence of new leaves. For pot cultivation, make sure to water regularly.
