Planting and care

We grow it in clayey soil, rich in humus, north of a grove of tall trees whose roots drain excessive winter moisture. As it is known to be sensitive to cold, we protected the crown under a litter layer of dead leaves for the first few years, but now this protection proves unnecessary as its roots are well established and appear to be much more cold-resistant than the literature suggests.
