Description

The perennial cornflower, an excellent perennial plant with robust blue flowers, needs no introduction. It grows everywhere, in both heavy and light soils, in the sun or in the shade. Out of fashion for a while, perennial cornflowers are making a comeback with new colours - be careful, you might fall in love!

Centaurea montana 'Carnea' has large pale pink flowers carried by stiff stems.

This variety goes perfectly well with Spectabilis bleeding hearts and Brunnera macrophylla.

Planting and care

Plant Centaurea montana 'Carnea' in light or well-draining soil in full sun or partial shade. It tolerates heavy and moist soils but prefers rocky soils. Water it generously at planting and maintain regular watering during the first 8 weeks. After flowering, cut back the flower stems to the ground, allowing for a second flowering in late summer.
