Description
This genus is named after the messenger of the gods who raised celestial dust in her path and left behind an iridescent trail. These "rainbow shreds" as enthusiasts of this genus call them, are among the few plants that can display the entire range of colours, from a perfect "almost" black to the purest white. The needs of the various species are so diverse that there is no garden that cannot accommodate them.
Forms dense clusters of evergreen dark green leaves, reddish at the base. Flower is fairly flat, with a lovely lilac blue colour and a white macule.

Planting and care
Our climate and damp soil have encouraged us to preferentially cultivate species and varieties that accept these conditions, but our large rockery and gravel gardens also allow us to accommodate species that prefer drier soil. Although in nature it grows in fresh meadows, in colder climates it thrives best in the rocky and well-drained soil of the rockery.
