Very pleased with this young plant: excellent growth, very beautiful flowers, completely in line with the photos, and surprisingly "perpetual".

Description
Phlox paniculata 'Tequila Sunrise' is a very compact variety of Phlox paniculata, which adorns itself in the height of summer with vibrant, bright orange flowers, which are slightly salmon. Their petals slightly overlap and swirl around a tiny red centre. They are fragrant and gathered in large panicles carried by sturdy stems. 'Tequila Sunrise' is a highly floriferous variety, with beautiful dark green foliage that is also disease-resistant. This lovely perennial plant is easy to grow in any moist soil, in the sun. It is particularly suited to borders, at the front of flower beds, and for creating beautiful displays in pots.
Phlox paniculata 'Tequila Sunrise' belongs to the family of Polemoniaceae. It is a recent variety, derived from Phlox paniculata, a robust perennial native to fertile and damp meadows in the eastern United States. 'Tequila Sunrise' is a herbaceous perennial plant with a woody stump forming a dense clump of leafy stems not exceeding 40 cm (16in) in all directions. The stems, stiff and sturdy, are covered with alternate, simple, ovate and lanceolate leaves, dark green and glossy. Flowering begins in mid-July and continues until September, provided faded inflorescences are removed. The small flowers, 1.5 to 2.5 cm (1in) in diameter, have a tubular corolla in a colour reminiscent of a setting sun. They are clustered at the end of erect, dense and round panicles, 15 cm (6in) in diameter, wonderfully fragrant, with the weight slightly curving the short stems. The flowers are honey-bearing and nectar-bearing. Under good growing conditions, Phlox can live for many years in the garden.
Phlox paniculata is a perennial of cottage gardens; its legendary simplicity and generosity are almost unmatched in perennial beds. It goes well with Monarda 'Mohawk' or Marguerites 'Wirral Supreme'. Phlox 'Tequila Sunrise' can be paired with dwarf purple or blue asters (Aster dumosus), with blue-violet Phlox Border Gem, or with white flowers (daisies, miniature roses) that make its orange corollas particularly elegant. Dwarf phlox make good companions for ageratums and buglosses, creating a contrast of colours. Phlox paniculata 'Tequila Sunrise' is a top-notch perennial to brighten up pots that will adorn balconies and patios.

Planting and care
Phlox paniculata are easy to grow. Phlox 'Tequila Sunrise' will prefer a damp and rich soil, even clay which is well-drained. It needs sun to flower well. Planted in the sun in a climate with hot summers, it will require regular watering and mulching at the base. Pruning the faded inflorescences promotes a second flowering at the end of the season. Protect young plants from slugs, which are fond of their tender shoots.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
The flowering period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions located in USDA zone 8 (France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Netherlands, etc.)
It will vary according to where you live:- In zones 9 to 10 (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), flowering will occur about 2 to 4 weeks earlier.
- In zones 6 to 7 (Germany, Poland, Slovenia, and lower mountainous regions), flowering will be delayed by 2 to 3 weeks.
- In zone 5 (Central Europe, Scandinavia), blooming will be delayed by 3 to 5 weeks.
In temperate climates, pruning of spring-flowering shrubs (forsythia, spireas, etc.) should be done just after flowering.
Pruning of summer-flowering shrubs (Indian Lilac, Perovskia, etc.) can be done in winter or spring.
In cold regions as well as with frost-sensitive plants, avoid pruning too early when severe frosts may still occur.
The planting period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions located in USDA zone 8 (France, United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands).
It will vary according to where you live:
- In Mediterranean zones (Marseille, Madrid, Milan, etc.), autumn and winter are the best planting periods.
- In continental zones (Strasbourg, Munich, Vienna, etc.), delay planting by 2 to 3 weeks in spring and bring it forward by 2 to 4 weeks in autumn.
- In mountainous regions (the Alps, Pyrenees, Carpathians, etc.), it is best to plant in late spring (May-June) or late summer (August-September).
The harvesting period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions in USDA zone 8 (France, England, Ireland, the Netherlands).
In colder areas (Scandinavia, Poland, Austria...) fruit and vegetable harvests are likely to be delayed by 3-4 weeks.
In warmer areas (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), harvesting will probably take place earlier, depending on weather conditions.
The sowing periods indicated on our website apply to countries and regions within USDA Zone 8 (France, UK, Ireland, Netherlands).
In colder areas (Scandinavia, Poland, Austria...), delay any outdoor sowing by 3-4 weeks, or sow under glass.
In warmer climes (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), bring outdoor sowing forward by a few weeks.
