Description
Phlox paniculata Violet Flame is a compact perennial that reaches a height of 40cm (16in), resistant to powdery mildew, which blooms all summer in large clusters of pale violet flowers.
Originating from the United States, this plant has dark green, lanceolate, veined leaves, measuring 5 to 13cm (2 to 5in) long. In July, numerous stiff and brittle stems bear flowers with pale violet panicles, dense and 10cm (4in) long.
Phlox paniculata Violet Flame thrives in a fresh, humus-rich, well-drained, non-calcareous soil and full sun. Apply compost during planting and mulch the soil to retain moisture.
Phlox paniculata Violet Flame is used in rockeries or flower beds in combination with delphiniums, perennial geraniums, or even roses.

Planting and care
Phlox paniculata Violet Flame is easy to grow. Plant it from September to April, in humus-rich, moist and well-drained soil. Although it tolerates partial shade, it will flower better in a very sunny spot. Add compost at planting time and every autumn. Cut back faded stems as they appear. Divide the stump every 3-4 years after flowering.
