Description

Hylomecon japonica may be the touch of originality that your shady flower beds need. This plant, as its name suggests, originates from Japan and blooms in spring, revealing beautiful golden yellow flowers.

Hylomecon thrives in well-shaded areas and can easily fill the base of even the densest and bushiest trees and shrubs. Its flowering period, although charming, is brief, but its foliage is dense. Pair it with other vigorous shade-loving perennials, as it can be quite competitive. For example, choose a deadnettle or a perennial geranium that will bloom a bit later.

You will notice the resemblance of Hylomecon's flowers to poppies. It is also worth noting that this plant is nectar producing, and bees will appreciate it.
