Hello, The young plant received did not take root, I am very disappointed. I took care of it during the planting. I find it a shame...

Description

The English rose Glamis Castle is undoubtedly one of the best English varieties with white flowers. It forms a small bush overflowing with very full cup-shaped flowers, ivory white with creamy yellow swirls, with the typical fragrance of English roses. Robust, resistant and highly recurrent, it deserves to be planted near a footpath or in the centre of a flowerbed.

This rather compact bush will not exceed 90 cm (35in) in height and 70 cm (28in) in width. Its foliage is healthy and disease resistant. From June to October, with exceptional generosity, it is adorned with 9 cm (4in) wide flowers, very double cups with countless tight and tousled petals, solitary or grouped in small clusters, carried by vigorous and highly branched stems. On the exterior of the corolla, the petals are pure white, but the inside of the flower is adorned with folds of a creamier colour. This variety is also distinguished by its pleasant fragrance, albeit not powerful, a fragrance of myrrh. Its deciduous foliage, dark green, is somewhat susceptible to blackspot, but this variety performs well in a semi-shaded position, which does not affect its flowering. This Glamis Castle rose seems to sporadically produce a rose with a single pink petal... or even a completely pink rose... the pink flower apparently not having the same fragrance as the white ones

The English rose 'Glamis Castle' should be included in any romantic garden, and when one studies its flower, one understands why it bears the name of a famous castle that witnessed the birth of the Queen Mother of England, who perfectly embodied that little 'chic and British' side. This rose blends well with English Roses and Old Roses, in a small hedge or a bed of roses or tall perennial plants such as lavender, peonies, phlox or the delicate blooms of Gaura and gypsophila. Bouquets composed with this rose are elegant and very romantic.

English Roses are well known to be repeat flowering and their flowers are renowned for being beautiful, regular, and highly fragrant rosettes. They are also very versatile, adaptable plants. They are the result of cross-breeding between old roses (Damask, Gallica, and Bourbon) and modern roses (Hybrid Teas and Floribundas). They resemble old roses in their natural habit and offer large, cup-shaped, romantic, and bohemian flowers. Modern roses have introduced brighter colours and repeat flowering. If you have enough space, English, Old, or Shrub Roses are magnificent when planted in groups of three plants. They will grow together to form 'one' opulent bush that will flower even more generously.

Bred by David Austin, 1992.

Planting and care

To plant your potted rose, work the soil to a depth of 25 cm (10in), crumbling the soil well and adding an amendment such as bonemeal.  Position your plant, freed from its pot, covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil. Fill in the hole and water generously to eliminate air pockets. During dry weather, it is necessary to water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate rooting. Also, remember to provide your rose with special rose fertiliser that stimulates flowering in plants.

Roses are often spotted or unsightly at the end of summer, but this is not a problem for their development. These spots are not harmful to the rose; it is a natural phenomenon.
