Thanks to the people (for order preparation and shipping service), the rose bush I received appears to be healthy. Planted near the 'Ruby Ruby' variety, I am now waiting for it to take root... (or not?)

More information

This rose bush seduces with its double, slightly nostalgic roses, displaying a very sprightly cherry red colour. Its bouquets bloom continuously for months on a bush with a harmonious habit, 70 cm (28in) in height, perfectly suited for planting in flower beds and for pot cultivation to adorn the balcony or patio. 'Cherry Girl' received the highly demanding ADR label in 2007 for its good resistance to rose diseases.

Description

The 'Cherry Girl' Rose from the Patio Rose collection is an excellent variety from Kordes that combines floribundity, charm, and natural disease resistance, qualities that have made the reputation of the German rose breeder. With a harmonious habit, this bush is adorned with beautiful shiny foliage that serves as a backdrop for bouquets of miniature round roses with generous, fully double forms ranging from cherry-red to light raspberry pink. The slightly scented flowering continues throughout the summer on this small bush that received the highly demanding German A.D.R label in 2007. A lively and carefree little rose, perfect for use in borders or pots on the balcony

The Rosa x floribunda 'Cherry Girl' ('korkosieb') was introduced to the market by rose breeder Kordes Rosen in 2009. This lovely creation is part of a series of roses, the 'Patio Roses' selected in partnership with 'Globe Planter' for their floribundity and excellent adaptation to pot culture. Cherry Girl has been repeatedly awarded gold and silver medals in international competitions. With an upright and bushy habit, well-branched and balanced, this bush reaches approximately 70 cm (28in) in height and 50 cm (20in) in width. Its thorny stems bear medium green leaves, divided into five finely toothed leaflets, glossy and resistant to diseases. Its flowering period is long, continuously blooming from May to June to October if the soil remains moist. The deep red-pink-coloured colour, enclosed in green sepals, opens into well-double cups measuring 5 to 6 cm (2in) in diameter,  clustered at the ends of the stems. Initially a bright cherry red, they gradually fade to become more pink, revealing a yellow stamen centre at full bloom. The overall effect creates a truly radiant combination of colours on the bush. The deciduous foliage falls in autumn.

Floribunda roses can create beautiful small hedges planted in a mix along the terrace, along a pathway or in small shrub borders. Combine them with abelias, Mexican orange blossoms, or caryopteris. They make good companions for phlox and hardy geraniums. This 'Cherry Girl' variety will be best showcased when planted in groups of 3, forming an extremely bright bush. It can, for example, be surrounded by catmints and perennial salvias with blue, violet, pink, purple, or white flowers. It can also be combined with white ground cover roses (Swany, Marie Pavie...), gypsophila, or lavenders. This hardy rose requires little maintenance and will thrive in full sun or partial shade. It will satisfy all gardeners, whether beginners or experienced.

Planting and care

Plant it in well-drained soil between November and March. Roses like clay soil, but if the soil is sandy, compact or dry, add compost to the planting hole. Don't plant it in waterlogged soil in winter. Place it in a sunny or partially shaded area. Roses need a lot of nutrients, so use a specific fertiliser at the start of vegetation and throughout the flowering period. To encourage repeat flowering, remove faded flowers regularly. Prune the stems by about one-quarter of their length (from 4 to 6 buds from the base of the stem) in March. Prune above an outward-facing bud so that the bush can fill out and the branches don't become tangled in the centre of the canopy. Floribunda rose varieties are more vigorous and floriferous than large-flowered rose varieties.

Roses may develop unsightly spots at the end of summer, but this is a natural occurrence and doesn't harm the rose's growth.
