Description

The Rosebush 'Marc's Jubilee' is a charming bush with clustered flowers that will delight enthusiasts of nostalgic varieties with the robustness and reblooming of modern creations. Its bouquets of up to 12 medium-sized, nicely scented flowers bloom in successive waves from late spring to autumn. The warm colour, in shades of orange and pink, is accompanied by an equally delicious fruity fragrance.

The Rosebush 'Marc's Jubilee' or 'VEL17fgafe' is a Belgian creation by Lens dating back to 2018. It belongs to the category of floribunda roses, with flowers grouped in corymbs at the ends of young shoots. This fast-growing variety quickly forms an upright bush. It reaches about 90 cm (35in) in height and 50 cm (20in) in spread. Its thorny stems bear foliage divided into dark green shiny leaflets, which are not very susceptible to diseases. Its flowering repeats from June to October if the soil is not too dry in summer. Its 9 cm (4in) wide corollas are double cups gathered in large bouquets. Their colour is mandarin orange, with the outer petals gradually turning pink. They are pleasantly scented. The deciduous foliage falls in winter.

Floribunda roses can create beautiful small hedges planted at the edge of the terrace or in small shrub beds. They go well with dwarf abelias or Caryopteris, for example. They are good companions for paniculate phloxes and tall gypsophila. The medium size and resistance of 'Marc's Jubilée' make it an interesting variety for all gardens, even small ones, and for cultivation in large pots. It can be used in various ways, according to the desires of each gardener: in groups of three plants in a rose bed, accompanied by white varieties ('Iceberg', 'Maria Mathilda', 'Bordure Blanche'), or salmon pink ('Sweet Dream', Rekord Cubana'). Combine it with easy-to-grow plants like perennial geraniums, asters or catmints. Finally, its charmingly scented roses are sublime in bouquets.

Planting and care

If you want to plant 'Marc's Jubilee' Rose, do it between November and March. The soil must be ordinary, well-prepared, well-fertilised, and well-drained. Roses prefer clayey and heavy soils. If the soil is too sandy, compact or dry, add compost, decomposed manure or compost to the substrate when planting. But don't plant this rose in waterlogged soils in winter. Place it in a sunny position, preferably in partial shade if it's hot outside. Roses need a lot of nutrients, so make sure to use a specific fertiliser at the start of vegetation and regularly during the flowering period.

Roses may develop unsightly spots at the end of summer, but this is a natural occurrence and doesn't harm the rose's growth.
