The naked rose plant received is very dry but still appears healthy, planted close to varieties such as Mme John Laing, Old Blush, Wildeve, Pink Paradise, Ville de Saumur, and many others. Now I am waiting for it to take root. This is the opinion of an amateur who has successfully planted over 480 different varieties of roses in his garden (including over 100 old ones and over 80 English AUSTIN varieties). Please note that the text has been revised for linguistic accuracy.

Description

The Generosa Rose 'Anne-Sophie Pic', a modern rose with the look of an old or English rose, is dedicated to this heir of an exceptional dynasty of chefs, decorated with 3 Michelin stars. The result of years of research and rigorous and exciting selection, a combination of tradition and innovation, this bush clad in healthy dark green foliage blooms abundantly from May until the first frost. Its large double cup-shaped roses display a fresh pink shade shaded with a warmer pink at the heart, which is very feminine. This characterful rose is also voluptuously scented, like all Generosa. For all gardens, it is perfect in borders, as a standalone plant, or in a shrub hedge.

Generosa roses are modern (even ultra-modern) with the appearance of old roses. They combine the charm of old roses with the robustness, surprising colours, and long flowering period of modern roses. 'Anne-Sophie Pic' is a creation by F Chamagnieu for Guillot, dating from before 2013.

The Generosa Rose Anne-Sophie Pic is a bushy rose with a rounded and dense habit. At maturity, it will reach approximately 1 m in height and 90 cm (35in) to 1 m (3ft) in spread. The flowering starts in May and only stops with the arrival of frost. The plant produces numerous clusters of 4 to 5 flowers, each measuring 9 cm (4in), each with no less than 40 petals. The well-pink buds open into cups of fresh pink, with well-arranged and slightly concave petals curved towards the heart. They give off a delightful fragrance, rich and exhilarating, promising indulgence. The foliage is abundant, healthy, deciduous in winter, semi-matte dark green, and requires little maintenance. This shrub is very hardy.

The 'Anne-Sophie Pic' Rose is sure to charm rose enthusiasts. Easy to grow in any good garden soil, it is accessible to beginner gardeners or those short on time. Some perennial plants and grasses are ideal for showcasing its gentle flowering and accompanying it late in the season. For example, pair it with bellflowers, Geranium Rozanne, Nepeta 'Walker's Low', or perennial Delphiniums. Also, combine it with other roses in shades of white (Martine Guillot, Manuel Canovas) or purple (Munstead Wood, Bossuet Aigle de Meaux). It will look great as a standalone plant and in a pot on your terrace or balcony. Its flowers make sumptuous bouquets in the company of peonies and lilacs.

Botanical name: Rosa Generosa 'Anne-Sophie Pic' Guigro1 - Breed by Guillot before 2013.

Planting and care

Roses prefer a sunny spot (at least 4 to 5 hours of sunshine daily) but away from the scorching midday sun and strong winds. Plant them from October to April. Easy to grow, roses thrive in loose, permeable, humus-rich soil. They prefer soil with a neutral pH but will get used to any garden if it is well-worked and sufficiently rich. To plant your rosebush, cultivate the soil to a depth of 25 cm per cube, crumble the soil well, and place a soil improver such as blood, fish, and bone at the bottom of the planting hole. After removing the plant from its pot, cover the top of the root ball with 3 cm of soil. In dry weather, water regularly for a few weeks to help the plant take root. Don't forget to feed your rose bush with special rose fertiliser to stimulate flowering. Prune its branches by 1/3 each spring.

Roses may develop unsightly spots at the end of summer, but this is a natural occurrence and doesn't harm the rose's growth.
