Collection of original decorative fruit bushes

We offer you a collection of original decorative fruit bushes, composed of three varieties chosen for their autumn colours and decorative fruits. Their flowering is followed by the formation of particularly attractive fruits that often persist until winter, bringing a colourful touch and life to the garden during the colder months. The deciduous foliage offers a varied aspect, ranging in colour from dark green to purple, while their flowering extends from summer to autumn. Invite them into a flowering hedge, they also please birds that delight in the fruits.

This collection consists of:

x 1 Clerodendrum trichotomum (Tree of Luck): This bush reaches a height of 3-4 m and a width of 2-3 m. Its star-shaped white flowers, grouped in paniculate clusters about 15-20 cm wide, are very fragrant and appear in late summer. They are followed by small blue fruits surrounded by a bright red calyx.

x 1 Euonymus europaeus (European Spindle): This bush reaches a height of 2-3 m. Its small inconspicuous flowers in summer give rise to capsules of bright pink that open in autumn to reveal bright orange seeds.

x 1 Callicarpa bodinieri 'Profusion' (Candy Bush): This bush does not exceed 2 m in height and produces small inconspicuous flowers in shades of pinkish purple in summer. In October, its branches are covered with intense purple berries. Its foliage takes on beautiful autumn colours.

Plant these bushes from February to April or in October-November. They thrive in full sun or partial shade, in a moist, well-drained soil, but not too dry. They can be used in a large shrub border or in a free hedge. The Tree of Luck can also be planted as a specimen plant. Take into account the size of the plants once they are fully grown when planting them so that they do not interfere with each other or hide each other. In a hedge, maintain a distance of 1m between each bush. In a large shrub border, this spacing should be 1.50 m.

To accompany these bushes, for example, choose the Mahonia 'Charity', with its evergreen foliage and blue berries, and the Cotoneaster lacteus, also evergreen, which is adorned with red berries in autumn. A Viburnum opulus that produces clusters of red berries and takes on beautiful autumn colours can be placed next to the Clerodendrum, while a few plants of Lonicera nitida, with its dense and evergreen foliage, can be planted as a border, in front of the others, for an interesting contrast.
