Calluna vulgaris Spring Torch - Heather

Calluna vulgaris 'Spring Torch' is a summer heather forming a low bush, covered with pretty cream-pink flowers from August to October. It remains beautiful even in winter when other plants are dormant.

Originally from the heathlands of Northern Europe, Calluna vulgaris 'Spring Torch' forms a ground cover, 30 cm to 40 cm (11.8 in to 15.7 in) in height and 40 cm to 50 cm (15.7 in to 19.7 in) in width. Its foliage is topped with red shoots in spring and winter. Its cream-pink bell-shaped flowers bloom from late summer to early winter. Its seeds are few in number. Its opposite leaves are in the form of tiny scales.

Resistant to up to -15° C (5° F), Calluna vulgaris 'Spring Torch' thrives in sunny or semi-shaded conditions. Plant it in light, humus-bearing, moist and slightly acidic soil.

Use it as a ground cover with other heather plants.
