Vigorous and resistant plant that has adapted well to the Mediterranean climate, in semi-shade. Well compact, floriferous and ramified. A very beautiful winter heather arrived in perfect condition. Thank you.

Description

The winter heather Erica x darleyensis Winter Belles Katia is a bush resulting from the cross-breeding between Erica carnea and Erica erigena. This hardy bush has a rounded and upright habit and blooms from December to March. Its large pure white flowers form a cluster that is 3 to 10 cm (1.2 to 3.9 in) long.

The foliage of Erica Winter Belles is evergreen and consists of lanceolate leaves that are medium green and 3 to 10 mm (0.1 to 0.4 in) long. When fully grown, the bush can reach a height of 50 cm (19.7 in).

This hardy heather grows in Europe and temperate Africa, as well as in the temperate regions of western and central Asia. It is an ideal plant to use in winter heather beds, especially with other Erica Winter Belles such as Erica Phoebe. Additionally, it is an excellent ground cover, whether planted alone or in association with other ericaceous plants or dwarf conifers.

Planting and care

Erica Winter Belles is easy to grow and enjoys being in full sun in any type of soil as long as it is acidic and well-drained. Water it once or twice a week depending on the ambient temperature. Every year after flowering, prune the faded branches to 2 cm (0.8 in) from the previous year's shoot. The Erica can be susceptible to phytophthora (root rot), phythium, and rhizoctonia during hot and humid periods.
