The young plant was in full bloom upon arrival, so I immediately potted it with heather soil, and all the flowers fell off! I hope it will flower again, but I don't see any buds.

Description

Andromeda polifolia Nikko is a very compact dwarf bush with evergreen silver-blue foliage topped with small umbels of very pale pink flowers resembling small bells.

Common in mountain landscapes, this Andromeda polifoila has a spreading and rounded habit, developing thin, upright branches with tough, pointed, linear foliage, 1 to 3cm (0.4 - 1.2 in) long, silver-blue turning bluish-green and resembling that of rosemary. Its blooms are very decorative, the flowers forming small pendant bells, very pale pink, 1cm (0.4 in) in diameter, grouped in umbels. It is a protected species.

The 'Nikko' Andromeda is very hardy, it grows in well-drained, light, moist soil, preferably acidic, and in full sun or partial shade. It is fairly resistant to diseases. A slow-growing plant, 'Nikko' Andromeda is ideal for rock gardens, borders, and pots.
