These 10.5 cm (4in) diameter round and perforated pots made from plant-based fibres and binders are 100% biodegradable. You can sow or transplant all your plants in them, then dispose of them in the compost or even place them in the garden soil, where they will decompose. They prevent the delicate roots of young plants from being disturbed while allowing them to grow freely. Sold in packs of 5 units.

These Napac Biocompostable Pots from Soparco, made from plant-based fibres and binders, are an excellent alternative to regular plastic seed pots and pots: they are 100% biodegradable, permeable to water and air, as well as to plant roots. Therefore, you can sow or transplant all your flowers, vegetables, trees, and bushes in them and then place them directly in the garden soil without disturbing the delicate young roots of your plants—a virtuous, clever, and ecological product sold in packs of 5 units.

Made of 67% natural fibres (rice husk, miscanthus) and 33% natural binders, these round pots have a diameter of 10.5cm (4in) and a height of 7.8cm (3in). They are light brown and have a capacity of 0.4 litres. They offer numerous advantages: their wall has a dense and porous mesh that allows the roots to penetrate quickly and ensures good water retention, optimal drainage, and excellent aeration of the growing medium. These factors are essential for seed germination and the healthy growth of young seedlings. All the user has to do is break or crush the base and sides of the pot halfway up its height so that the roots can quickly explore the soil and benefit from its natural moisture during the complete decomposition. The roots remain intact during transplantation, preventing the plants from experiencing post-transplant shock. Moreover, they will gradually decompose due to the microorganisms naturally present in the soil and the growing medium until they disappear entirely once in the ground.

Another advantage of these wood fibre pots compared to plastic pots is that the phenomenon of root circling is minimal. While roots tend to grow spiralled and become tangled in a pot that has become too small and has an impassable plastic wall, they will easily penetrate the walls of Napac pots. This will signify that it is time to transplant the young plants into a larger pot or plant them in the ground. It should be noted that while the phenomenon of root circling is almost non-existent or has no significant impact on herbaceous plants (perennials, vegetables, annuals, and biennials), it can be detrimental to the establishment of many bushes and trees, especially in challenging soil and climate conditions.

Lastly, gardeners concerned about preserving nature will find these biodegradable pots an ecological alternative to replace often non-recyclable plastic pots, eventually posing an environmental problem. The "Napac" pots comply with environmental standards and can be added to compost without risk.

Detailed features

Directions for use Fill your pots with a suitable growing medium: special potting compost or potting soil, for example. To sow: sow your seeds according to the instructions for each plant and water lightly. To repot: place your seedling in the centre of the Napac pot, then water lightly. You can also proceed in two stages: sow in a pot, then repot in another pot with a larger diameter before the final planting in the ground. The pot is compostable. Dig a planting hole at least twice as big and deeper than the pot. Break or crush the base of the pot and the sides to half the height so that the roots can colonise the soil quickly, then simply install the pot with its seedling in the hole. Fill in with a substrate suited to the plant (potting soil, mix of soil and potting soil, etc.) Water to pack the soil around the roots.
