Description

Narcissus Art Design has a remarkably double trumpet in the centre of its flower. The nuanced colour of the petals makes Art Design a unique narcissus. The petals are creamy, a pale yellow enhanced with a brighter yellow and washed with salmon pink.

Daffodils have become essential in our gardens because their early flowering elegantly heralds the arrival of spring. They are hardy perennial plants and you can count on their presence from one year to the next without any problem. They are also excellent cut flowers.

Plant them wherever you like, in lawns, rockeries, flower beds or pots and containers. Their spring flowering brings light to the spring garden, highlighting the bare bark of trees and bushes.

Narcissus are toxic, so it is a good idea to wash your hands after handling or picking them.

Planting and care

Art Design Daffodils bloom from March to May and come back every year. They are easy to grow and will thrive both in the shade of woodland and a sunny flower bed as long as you provide them with good drainage. Plant them 10 cm (4in) deep and 10 cm (4in) apart, in minimum clusters of 5 bulbs, in uniform or mixed colours. To plant them in a lawn: lift a patch of turf, dig and loosen the soil to a depth of at least 20 cm (8in) (the height of a spade), place your bulbs, cover with soil and lay the turf back. Choose a spot where you won't mow too early, as you must let daffodil leaves wither before cutting them. It is now that the bulb rebuilds itself and prepares the flowers for the following year. However, cut the flowers as soon as they fade to prevent seed formation which would unnecessarily deplete the bulb.
