Description
The Tulipa viridiflora 'Artist' blooms in May. These late flowers have a lovely salmon pink colour veined with green. Their petals end in a point. You can cut them to make beautiful bouquets.
The 'Artist' tulip is relatively short and measures up to 30 cm (12in) when mature. The viridiflora tulip is known for its good endurance, with flowers lasting up to three weeks.
This variety of tulip can be accompanied by both biennials and perennials. It is a charming addition to your flowerbeds.

Planting and care
Place the tulipa viridiflora 'Artist' in a sunny location from October to December for beautiful spring flowering. You can also place it in a partially shaded area. Plant the bulbs as soon as possible in a light, fertile, and well-drained soil, and dig it to a depth of 15 cm (6in) (the bulbs should be covered with twice their height of soil). Space the bulbs 10 cm (4in) apart, making sure they do not touch each other, to create a mass effect; cut the flower stems after flowering. Allow the leaves to dry completely before cutting them.
