Verbena belongs to the Verbenaceae family. They are perennial plants grown in herb or vegetable gardens for the fragrance of their leaves. As undershrubs with a bushy habit, they also have a place in ornamental gardens. Verbena plants are sensitive to cold and require protection such as covering or mulching to winter them under good conditions. Plant them in May or June in the ground or in pots. The leaves can be harvested from June to October by cutting the stems. When dried, they can be stored for a long time.
