More information

Ideal for property boundaries, roadside embankments and ground that dries out easily, this special meadow slope mix is composed of particularly resistant and sober perennial and annual flowers. Perfectly adapted to steep terrain, these wildflowers reduce maintenance of these difficult-to-access areas to one mow per year and they will rebloom for several years, in spring and summer. Sow the seeds in September-October or in March-April, in the sun, in well-prepared soil. One box covers up to 100 m².

Description

This Meadow Slope mix is a beautiful assortment of flowers particularly suited for ornamenting slopes and other steep terrain which is often quite dry, ungrateful, and difficult to maintain. Sturdy and undemanding, requiring little water, they grow without the need for care, limiting maintenance to a late-season mowing, while adding colour to these unattractive areas, and providing shelter and food for many beneficial insects. Seeds will be sown directly in place, in late summer or spring, in well-prepared soil. This flowering scape will bloom for several years, from spring to summer.

This selection consists of 39 species of perennial and annual plants. Annuals bloom 6 to 8 weeks after sowing, while perennial plants, which live for several years, will bloom as early as the second spring. All these plants show rather rapid growth and some self-seed spontaneously in the garden, in ordinary and well-drained soil. One seed box allows for covering up to 100 square metres. The height of flowering plants varies between 40 and 80 cm (16 and 32in).

Sample composition: Calendula officinalis, Echium plantagineum, Chrysanthemum leucanthemum, Linum grandiflora, etc.

Wildflower meadows combine usefulness with pleasure:
blooming throughout the season while requiring very little maintenance, they restore ecological balance and bring the charm of the countryside to the garden. Occasional watering during very dry periods will be enough to obtain many flowers. Invite nature into your garden: sow our flower mixtures in a slightly neglected area, on a large slope, or in the back of a garden bordering the countryside.

Planting and care

Sowing: from September to October, or March to early June

Turn over the soil. Depending on the surface, you can use a rotavator or agricultural equipment.  • Refine, rake, level, remove stones and weeds.  • Mix the contents of the packet with an equal volume of dry sand to achieve a better distribution of the seeds.  • Scatter the seeds on the surface like sowing grass.  • Roll or compact the soil to bring the seeds into contact with the ground.  • Water and keep moist until germination.

Sow about 5g per m²

Examples:

• 50 m2: weigh out 250 grams
• 100 m2: use the entire box
