Description

Sutera or Bacopa 'Gulliver Compact Rosa' offers countless pink flowers with a yellow-orange heart from May to October. The flowers of this variety are distinguished by their large size. This compact and floriferous annual is ideal for filling a flowerbed, pot or hanging basket. Plant it in the sun or partial shade in light and humus-bearing soil.

From the scrophulariaceae family, the Bacopas, also known as Sutera cordata, are perennial, frost-tolerant plants that originate from South Africa. This variety is distinguished by its well-branched stems and large flowers, among the largest for a bacopa. They are pink with a yellow-orange heart. The flowers have a tubular base and spread out in compound corollas with five rounded lobes. Bacopa 'Gulliver Compact Rosa' forms a mound 15 to 20 cm (6 to 8in) high and 30 to 35 cm (12 to 14in) wide. The stems are covered with small green heart-shaped leaves, about 1.5 cm (1in) long.

With its compact silhouette and floriferous nature, the Bacopa 'Gulliver Compact Rosa' easily pairs with all balcony and hanging plants: surfinias, petunias, and other lobelias. Mix it with Helichrysum petiolare Silver with silver foliage and petunia Superpétunia Vista Bubblegum with pink candy-coloured flowers for a soft and gentle composition. Combine it with other Bacopas with white flowers like Gulliver Dynamic White or Scopia Double Snowball.

Note: Please be aware that our plug plants are products reserved for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, repot them as soon as possible, in pots, flowerbeds, or directly in a flowerbed.

Planting and care

Plant your 'Gulliver Compact Rosa' in full sun or possibly in partial shade, ideally in good horticultural compost and feed them regularly. They tolerate summer drought quite well. This variety is naturally branching, but if you want them to be even more compact, pinch the tips of the stems to encourage them to divide.
Bacopas are perfect for filling a pot, a planter or even a hanging basket. In this case, water them regularly.
Usually grown as annuals, they are frost-tender perennials: bring them indoors before the first frost and enjoy their flowering during autumn and winter. Growing outside is possible in mild climates (coastal areas), by mulching their base well in winter. Lightly prune them in March.
