Too adorable, this little spreading plant. Real jewels and a relatively rapid spreading (proportionate to its size). The flowers are small, one must bend down to admire them, but it's worth it! Attached photos to see the spreading achieved in a few months.

Description

Mazus miquelii is a perennial with a creeping habit that produces delicate small lavender-blue flowers with white lips dotted with orange from April to June. It is a very pretty ground cover that thrives in sunny and moist environments.

Originating from the Himalayan Mountains and belonging to the Phrymaceae family, this perennial has a creeping habit and does not exceed 5 cm (2 in) in height, spreading up to 30 cm (12 in). In late spring (April to June), it produces purple flowers in a bell-shaped calyx with 5 segments: two upper and three lower, marked with white spots, themselves dotted with orange. The evergreen foliage of Mazus miquelii consists of obovate leaves measuring 3 to 7 cm (1 to 3 in).

It is a hardy plant, tolerating temperatures down to -15 °C (5 °F), and it thrives in sunlight and any well-drained soil that is preferably moist or even very wet.

In the garden, Mazus miquelii will find its place in borders, in moist rock gardens, in the gaps between large stepping stones, and also on the edges of a pond. It is easy to grow and pairs well with other ground cover plants such as Subulate Pearlwort or the Versicolor Perennial Geranium.
