Very lovely! Arrived in poor condition because it was taken out of its bucket, but it has already grown 2 new leaves and seems to be thriving.

Description

The Heucherella 'Sweet Tea' is a perennial with remarkable evergreen foliage that changes colour throughout the seasons and forms a dense clump. Its palmate leaves are apricot orange, veined with darker red. They take on a coppery orange, russet brown to cinnamon hue in the summer.

This heucherella, resulting from the cross-breeding between Heuchera and Tiarella, produces an early and airy cream-white spike flowering in May. The 'Sweet Tea' species has excellent hardiness. This vigorous plant grows larger over time and can reach a height of 60 cm (24in) at maturity.

It can be found in perennial gardens or in borders. It is also a good ground cover. You can grow it in containers on your terraces as well.

Planting and care

Place the Heucherella in full or partial shade during spring or autumn. This hardy perennial is easy to grow and thrives in good garden soil. Plant it in a light and rich, moist but well-drained soil. Leave a depth of 20 cm (8in). Space the heucherellas 30 cm (12in) apart. During winter, the heucherella renews its foliage, so it is best to cut back the leaves from the previous year between January and February. The roots have a tendency to lift, so it is necessary to mulch every year or potentially uproot and replant in September and October, placing the collar just at ground level. Ensure that the soil remains fairly moist, even during the summer heat, which can be fatal to young plants that lack water. In pots, it requires regular watering throughout the summer.
