Description

Rosa Generosa Marc-Antoine Charpentier is an impressive deciduous shrub rose, reaching a height of 2m (7ft) at maturity; its flexible branches give it a dome-shaped habit.

From June to the first frost, this rose continuously produces clusters of numerous old-fashioned roses.

The small roses are double, cup-shaped, and have slightly undulate petals. They transition from vanilla yellow to creamy white during flowering. They emit a subtle scent of tea rose. The rose is repeat flowering. It grows on deciduous green foliage.

Highly hardy, Rosa Generosa Marc-Antoine Charpentier can reach a height of 2m (7ft). It can be grown both as a specimen plant or in flowerbeds. You can cut the roses to place them in bouquets in a vase.

Planting and care

Roses prefer a sunny location (at least 4 to 5 hours of sun per day) but sheltered from the burning rays of midday and strong winds. Plant them from October to April. Easy to grow, roses appreciate loose, permeable, and humus-rich soil. They prefer soil with a neutral pH but will adapt to any garden as long as the soil is well worked and sufficiently rich.

To plant your Rose Marc-Antoine Charpentier , work the soil to a depth of 25 cm (10in), crumble the soil well, and place a base amendment such as bonemeal at the bottom of the planting hole. Position your plant, freed from its pot, and cover the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil. Fill in the hole and water generously to eliminate air pockets. During dry weather, it is necessary to water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate root growth. Also, remember to provide your rose with special rose fertiliser that stimulates flowering in plants.  Prune its branches by a third each spring.

Roses are often sptted or unsightly in late summer, but this is not a problem for their development. These spots are not harmful to the rose; it is a natural phenomenon.
