The rose received may not be the right one as the flower is almost white. It is always a shame when it is a gift for a friend!

Planting and care

Choose a sunny location for your rose Generosa Morabito rose (be careful of the burning midday sun). Loosen the soil where you will be planting the rose, as they prefer well-drained soil rich in humus. They prefer soil with a neutral pH, but will adapt to any garden as long as the soil is well-prepared and sufficiently rich. Work the soil to a depth of 25 cm, crumble the soil well and place an amendment like bonemeal at the bottom of the planting hole. Position your plant, removed from its pot, and cover the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil. Fill in the hole and water generously to remove any air pockets. During dry weather, water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate root establishment. Pruning your roses helps maintain a compact and elegant habit from year to year. In March, before the buds start to grow, reduce your rose to 3 or 6 nodes above the ground, cutting at an angle above an outward-facing bud. Remove dead or crossing branches. You can also deadhead the flowers throughout the summer to encourage the development of new buds.

Roses are often spotted or unsightly at the end of summer, but this is not a problem for their development. These blemishes are not harmful to the rose; they are a natural phenomenon.
