Thank you to the individuals (Anne Flore for the order preparation and Laurent from the shipping department), the rose bush I received appears healthy. Planted near the 'Ruby Ruby' variety, I am now waiting for it to take root... (or not?)

Description

The 'Corazon' rose bush (KORneumaid) is part of a line of particularly floriferous and resistant miniature varieties, the Lilliputs, created by the German rose breeder Kordes. It is notable for the quite striking beauty of its small roses, composed of scarlet red petals with a white underside, for a beautiful effect. It is a very bushy little shrub, with a nicely rounded habit, which blooms continuously from late spring until the first frost, in radiant clusters, highlighted by lovely glossy foliage. This delightful variety is also highly disease-resistant and very easy to grow, both in the ground and in pots.

The flowers of the Lilliputs Corazon rose bush, gathered in terminal clusters, come from the polyantha rose, an old hybrid derived from Rosa multiflora and R. chinensis. This hybrid variety was introduced in 2020 by the Kordes company.

This very compact and branching bush shows a compact and densely branched habit, always well defined. In a few years, it will reach a height of about 50 cm (20in) with a width of 40 cm (16in). The double flowers, measuring 4-5 cm (2in), are gathered in clusters of 5 to 8 units, and are abundantly and continuously produced from June to October if the soil remains moist. This variety develops healthy foliage, divided into small dentate leaflets not exceeding 2 cm (1in) in length and 1 cm (0.5in) in width, of a beautiful dark and glossy green. It is deciduous, meaning it disappears in winter and reappears in spring on short stems with prickles.

The Lilliputs 'Corazon' rose bush works wonders as a border plant, in flower beds, in pots or in containers on the terrace, or on a patio. It can be combined with other miniature roses, in harmonious colours, or planted in groups of three plants, arranged in a triangle, in the centre of a small flower bed. Plant it en masse at the edge of the patio or along a small path. For example, it can be paired with perennial geraniums (Geranium Blue Cloud, Anne Folkard, Nimbus, Orion), campanulas (lactiflora, rapunculoides), catmints, perennial salvias, creeping gypsophila, or lobelias, depending on the preferences of each gardener. It will also have a great effect at the front of bush rose beds, where it will hide the base of the plants.

Planting and care

The Lilliputs roses from Kordes are easy to grow in a pot with good horticultural soil or in the garden in ordinary, well-prepared and loosened soil, enriched, not too dry in summer. They prefer a sunny position (at least 4 to 5 hours of sun per day) but sheltered from the burning rays of midday and strong wind. To plant your rose in a pot, work your soil to a depth of 25 cm (10in), crumbling the soil well and placing a bottom amendment such as bonemeal. Position your plant, removed from its pot, covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil, backfill and water thoroughly to remove air pockets. In dry weather, water regularly for a few weeks to encourage rooting.  Remember to provide your rose with special rose fertiliser that stimulates plant flowering.
