Description

The 'Eliza' hybrid tea rose is a beautiful bush with large, fully bloomed roses. The abundant flowering repeats and extends from June to September (even longer in favourable weather conditions). The flowers remain a vibrant pink from bud to withering. They are excellent bouquet roses, blooming on long stems and holding up well in a vase.

This hybrid tea rose is a vigorous bush. Its foliage is very healthy and resistant to diseases. 'Eliza' even received the ADR label in 2005. ADR is the label of the German Federation of Rose Breeders. This label is only granted to varieties that have passed the strictest tests in the world. The plants are tested simultaneously at 10 locations in various soil and climate conditions for several years. The tests focus on hardiness, perennial character, and flowering without the use of any pesticides.

'Eliza' is one of the hybrid tea roses, a recent development. These roses have inherited abundant and perpetual flowering as well as elegantly shaped flowers. These qualities make hybrid tea roses the most popular roses at present. This variety has won numerous medals in competitions around the world.

Bred by Kordes Sons in 2004.

Planting and care

Plant your 'Eliza' rose bush in a sunny location. Roses are tolerant, but they don't like excessive limestone. They will adapt to any garden if the soil is well-worked and rich. This rose bush is not susceptible to diseases, but if you notice any stained or affected leaves, remove them immediately. To plant your rose bush, work the soil by crumpling it well and placing an amendment at the bottom of the planting hole, such as blood, fish and bone. Water generously after planting to eliminate air pockets. Water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate rooting. Pruning 'Eliza' involves reshaping and aerating the natural bushy habit of the rose bush. Trim your rose bush to about 5 buds from the ground after the risk of frost in spring. To prune, choose an outward-facing bud and cut just above it at an angle. Take this opportunity to remove dead wood and unsightly branches. Remove faded flowers throughout the summer to stimulate the growth of new buds.

Roses may develop unsightly spots at the end of summer, but this is a natural occurrence and doesn't harm the rose's growth.
