The Raffaello® 'Meikanaro' rose bush is a creation by Michèle Meilland Richardier, introduced in the United States in 2011 under the name Sunshine Daydream™ and in Germany in 2013 as Raffaello®.

This exceptional rose bush has received numerous international accolades. In 2013, it was awarded Best Grandiflora Rose in Portland, USA, and the Golden Rose in Hradec Králové, Czech Republic. In 2012, it was honoured by the AARS (All-American Rose Selections), received a certificate in Orléans, France, and won a Gold Medal in Rose Hills, USA. In 2009, it was decorated with a Gold Medal in Lyon, France. In 2008, it earned a Silver Medal in Madrid, Spain, and a Gold Medal in Courtrai, Belgium. That same year, it was voted Rose of the Year and received a Silver Medal in Monza, Italy. In 2007, it was awarded a Silver Medal in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and a Gold Medal in Le Rœulx, Belgium. ​

The Raffaello® rose bush belongs to the Grandiflora roses group. These varieties combine the elegance of Hybrid Tea roses with the clustered flowering of Floribundas. Taller and more vigorous, they offer abundant flowering throughout the season. The bush has a compact, bushy habit, reaching a height of 80 cm to 1 m and a spread of 50 to 60 cm. Its semi-double flowers of 9-10 cm in diameter display a bright lemon-yellow hue that lightens towards the edges. They stand out beautifully against the glossy green foliage. The cup-shaped roses exude a light, pleasant fragrance. Each inflorescence displays clusters of 2 to 5 flowers. ​Flowering begins in May-June and continues uninterrupted until the first autumn frosts. The deciduous foliage which falls in autumn consists of glossy, dark green leaflets, offering excellent resistance to rose diseases.

To create a bed around the Raffaello® 'Meikanaro' rose bush, whose flowers possess a delicate luminosity, pair it with matching or complementary tones like white, apricot and salmon shades as well as blues and mauves. Plant it for example in front of a 'Crown Princess Margareta' rose bush with apricot flowers—this tall bush will create a warm depth. At the front, the lavender-blue flowering of Nepeta 'Junior Walker' will soften the pale yellow of the rose bush.
