Description
Hydrangea anomala subsp. petiolaris 'Mirranda' is a climbing hydrangea with variegated leaves, perfect for walls or bare tree trunks.
Hydrangea anomala subsp. petiolaris 'Mirranda' has variegated foliage, which is dark green and light green or even yellow. It is a creeping bush with a vigorous habit thanks to its strong climbing roots. Its growth is a little sluggish at the juvenile stage. This hydrangea blooms in May-June, with flat, white flowers of parasol umbels, with a sweet fragrance.
With the support of a wall, this bush can measure up to 6 to 8m (20 to 26ft); without support, it will not exceed 1.5m (5ft) and will form a dense bush.
It prefers a sunny to semi-shady exposure, in moist, humid soil. It can be pruned to obtain a flat shape.
Plant in the second row along a wall. Plant hostas, for example, in the first row to enjoy a display of variegated foliage.

Planting and care
Plant in a north or east exposure, in deeply worked soil. A good base fertiliser will favour your young plant's recovery and nourish it without risk of burning. If your soil tends to be dry, mix our water retainer, stockosorb, into the soil when refilling the planting hole and plan for a watering basin on the surface.

- In zones 9 to 10 (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), flowering will occur about 2 to 4 weeks earlier.
- In zones 6 to 7 (Germany, Poland, Slovenia, and lower mountainous regions), flowering will be delayed by 2 to 3 weeks.
