Hydrangea macrophylla, native to East Asia (Japan and China), belongs to the Hydrangeaceae family. This species is known for its large leaves and decorative globose inflorescences. The cultivar 'Ferrari Love' comes from the Rebellion® range, a collection of varieties selected for their compact habit, spectacular flowering and excellent adaptation to harsh climates. Distributed notably in several Central European countries such as the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary, it regularly appears in specialist nursery catalogues.
Hydrangea macrophylla 'Ferrari Love' is a deciduous, well-branched shrub with a rounded and compact habit. Under normal growing conditions, it reaches between 1.20m and 1.50m in height and spread. Its annual growth is moderate (10 to 20cm), and it can reach its full size in 4 or 5 seasons. Flowering begins in June, on the previous year's wood. The globose inflorescences, composed of single, tightly packed flowers, are pink, tinged with red. This colour is visible from the start of flowering, without an intermediate green phase. Flowering continues on the new shoots. It is accompanied by beautiful, dense deciduous foliage consisting of opposite, ovate to elliptical, toothed, pointed leaves measuring about 10 to 15 cm long, slightly glossy, dark green. In autumn, it may colour before falling.
