Description

The Crimson Clover is an annual herbaceous plant that reaches a height of 60 cm (24in) and is cultivated as a green manure for its nitrogen contributions. It is sown on vacant plots in the vegetable garden as a vegetative cover. It covers, fertilizes, and improves the soil structure. It can also be used as fodder. Beautiful red flowering. Sowing from August to September, mow at flowering. 300 grams can cover 120 m2

Green manure is a crop that will be buried to enrich and fertilize the soil. It improves the soil structure and is a source of humus and nitrogen. It eliminates or reduces weeds. It is sown broadcast, with the seeds lightly covered. Mow it as soon as its vegetation is sufficiently developed, do not let it go to seed, use a lawnmower to chop it up and incorporate it into the soil with a spade or a rotavator. This is the double or perpetual type, less long-lasting than the single type, but more productive as 2 to 3 cuts per year are possible.

The gardener's little tip: Hoe and weed. If there are still some plants that have gone to seed, the vegetable garden will be invaded by plants the following year, so cut the floral stems as soon as flowering ends.
