California Poppy Bridal Bouquet Mix Seeds - Eschscholzia californica

California poppy 'Bridal Bouquet Mix'  also known by its latin name Eschscholzia californica,  is an easy-to-grow, spreading annual. Its flowers are semi-double or double and display solid-coloured or multi-coloured streaked petals. The blooms renew themselves abundantly from June to September.

It gets its main common names (Californian Poppy, Paper Flowers, American Poppy) from the resemblance of its flowers with those of its cousin, the common poppy, as well as from its West American origin where it abounds in rocky expanses.

Californian Poppy 'Bridal Bouquet Mix' is usually used at the front of the beds, in rock gardens or in pots on the patio because of its small size (25cm). It contents itself with any type of soil, even dry, poor ones but it prefers lighter soils to heavy ones.

It self-seeds freely and although the plant fears frost, the seeds do not, so from year to year it forms beautiful, natural-looking beds. Sometimes it can even become invasive.

A position in full sun will encourage blooming.
