Description
Angelonia Angelface® Wedgwood Pink ('ANGAF19278') is a light and generous annual that becomes covered in pink and white spikes from May-June until the first frosts. This compact and vigorous selection is suitable for seasonal beds and containers on the terrace. Easy to grow, heat-resistant and tolerant of moderate drought, it requires little maintenance.
This plant belongs to the Plantaginaceae family and the group of Angelonia hybrids, resulting from cross-breeding with the species Angelonia angustifolia, native to Mexico and the West Indies. It is named for the shape of the flowers, whose two-lipped corolla resembles a small angel silhouette. Angelface® is a series selected by Proven Winners, bringing together very floriferous plants, with an upright, well-branched habit capable of flowering all summer in the heat, with excellent performance in pots as well as in the ground. Within this series, Wedgwood Pink ('ANGAF19278') stands out for its bicolour pale pink and creamy white flowers, with a more pronounced, mauve-pink throat, reminiscent of Wedgwood porcelain.
Angelonia, being frost-tender, is almost always grown as an annual. Plant outdoors when night-time temperatures exceed 10–12 °C. The plant adopts an upright, bushy habit, well-branched from the base, allowing it to form small, compact clumps 50 to 75 cm tall and 30 to 46 cm wide. The foliage is formed of narrow, lanceolate to oblong, about 2 to 4 cm long, smooth, shiny, medium green leaves. When crushed, these leaves release a light fragrance sometimes reminiscent of grape soda. The stems are firm enough to withstand wind without staking. The main asset remains the flowering: from late spring, clusters rise above the foliage, forming spikes 15 to 25 cm long, densely packed with small flowers. Each corolla measures 1.5 to 2 cm, shaped like a mini-snapdragon: a short tube flares into two lips, the wider lower lip being mostly white, while the upper part and some lobes are adorned with soft pink, with a mauve-pink or purple, finely speckled, darker central zone. The spikes are renewed continuously until the frosts. The nectar-rich flowers attract pollinators such as bees.
In the garden, plant Angelonia Angelface Wedgwood Pink in a bed in full sun. It can be combined with Zinnias, 'Art Deco' or 'Zinderella Lilac', and Cosmos. In a container, this variety will be the central plant, surrounded by Surfinia® or other trailing petunias and Annual Verbenas. It can also be used in a corner dedicated to cut flowers, combined with Gomphrena 'Truffula Pink' or with Scaevola Surdiva White.
Note: Please note, plug plants are products reserved for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, pot them on and store them under cover (conservatory, greenhouse, cold frame...) at a temperature above 14°C for a few weeks before being planted outdoors once all risk of frost has passed.

Planting and care
Plant Angelonia Angelface Wedgwood Pink in a sunny or possibly partially shaded position. They require a light, well-draining, humus-bearing soil and appreciate an application of fertiliser. They tolerate rather dry soil quite well. You can plant your Angelonia in pots or in the ground. In pots, they should be watered regularly.
You can attempt to keep Angelonia Angelface Wedgwood Pink by overwintering it frost-free, but it must be treated as a very tender perennial, and you must accept that regrowth in spring is not always perfect. To try, bring the pots indoors before the first frosts and place them in a bright, airy, frost-free spot, ideally between 8 and 12°C, significantly reducing watering to keep the compost just slightly moist.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
